At the trial of the November 13 attacks, Salah Abdeslam was heard for the second time by the judges on the merits of the case. But his evasive answers, his provocations and his insolence punctuated the day of the hearing which ended in the hasty departure of the defense lawyers.
This second interrogation took place in an electric atmosphere. Salah Abdeslam victimizes himself and continues to minimize his role. The tone rises several times between the accused and the President of the Assize Court, then always between Salah Abdeslam and the lawyers for the civil party. In the room, the public reacts, in particular when the accused declares: “You have screwed up my life, France and its government, the way you have treated me for six years.“
An inaudible response for the relatives of the victims. “The victims and relatives of the victims can only react. Because our life has been destroyed for six and a half years when we lose a 24-year-old child at a café terrace while he was with his friends“, declares Dominique Kielemoes, mother of Victor, killed on November 13. The accused remains evasive, he does not provide real answers and refuses to give names on the pretext that he is not a “balance“. He claims, during his travels, to have just wanted to help Muslim brothers who were trying to flee Syria. “This way of saying both I assume and of not assuming anything, of slipping away on everything. He led the terrorists on the night of the 12th. So why quibble, be so mediocre“, protests Me Sylvie Topallof, lawyer for the civil parties. The accused always assures that he was not aware of the planned attack.
