Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac | The CDPDJ opens its own investigation after a possible feminicide

The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (CDPDJ) has announced that it is opening an investigation into the situation of the children who were at the scene of what the police suspect was the murder of their mother by their father .

Posted at 1:28 p.m.

The commission believes children’s rights may have been violated based on media reports of the incident.

The children were found in a house in the Montreal suburb of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, where their mother was discovered dead on Wednesday.

Police say they believe the 39-year-old woman was killed by her spouse.

The woman’s husband, a 42-year-old man, was later found seriously injured in a car and died in hospital.

According to a group of women’s shelters in Quebec, it would be the seventh woman killed by a current or former intimate partner this year in the province, if the thesis of the police is correct.
