(Montreal) Four dead bodies were found following a fire that occurred overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, in Sainte-Julienne, in Lanaudière, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The fire reportedly broke out around 1 a.m. in a house on Rang du Cordon, in the municipality located about thirty kilometers northwest of Joliette.
When the flames were brought under control, firefighters discovered four people in the rubble, said SQ spokesperson Sergeant Éloïse Cossette.
“You have to understand that the house is a total loss. It’s totally destroyed,” she said.
“Given the event, the victims are not identifiable. The cause of the fire is also undetermined at this time. We are at the start of the investigation, ”she added.
The file was transferred to the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the SQ early Thursday morning in order to shed light on the causes and circumstances of this event.
