Passers-by called the police around 7 a.m. after seeing a vehicle in the road on Nobel Road near the intersection of Bernard-Pilon Street.

When they arrived at the scene, first responders found two men in the vehicle. “At that time, their state of health required that they be transferred to a designated trauma center, explained Sébastien Guillemette, captain for the Richelieu-Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police board. For a few hours we were uncertain about the prognosis of their health, because they were serious injuries. He said they are now out of danger.

During the day, the police carried out the analysis of the accident scene. Nobel Street was closed for a few hours in the morning. It is now reopened to traffic.

Mr. Guillemette points out that at this point on the road, the road has several close curves that form a “double S”.

“What we saw was that at the first curve of the double S, the vehicle continued straight then left the road followed by a rollover”, detailed Captain Guillemette.

The investigation ruled out the causes of drug or drunk driving.

Mr. Guillemette indicates that the sector is not particularly accident-prone, and that it is a 50 km/h zone. “The thesis of distracted driving is possible. We also know that at this time in the morning, the sun is directly at eye level,” he said.

The investigation is continuing to better understand the circumstances of the accident. The occupants of the vehicle will be met later.
