A 19-year-old driver is in critical condition following a collision that occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday in the borough of Saint-Léonard. The young motorist was stuck in his car for at least 30 minutes before being taken to hospital.
Officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were notified around 1:40 a.m. of a collision involving a vehicle on boulevard Langelier, near boulevard Lavoisier, in the borough of Saint-Léonard.
The 19-year-old driver was conscious, trapped inside his car. Firefighters rushed to the scene to extricate him from the vehicle. The seriously injured young man was taken to hospital. “We fear for his life,” confirmed agent Caroline Chèvrefils, of SPVM media relations.
According to preliminary information, the car was traveling north on Langelier Boulevard before hitting a concrete wall located near the median strip. The automobile ended its race on a parked vehicle without an occupant. The scene was protected to allow investigators to analyze the whole thing.
“The cause of this accident is unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing,” added the spokesperson for the police force.
