(Montreal) For the second time in two days, a commercial establishment in the borough of Saint-Léonard, in the northeast of Montreal, was targeted by criminals who tried to set it on fire.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that this second attack did not cause any injuries and that the damage caused to the building was minor.
The fire started around 4 a.m. Thursday at the establishment located on Langelier Boulevard, near the intersection of Lavoisier Boulevard.
The SPVM reports that firefighters from the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SSIM) intervened quickly, which limited the damage. Shortly after, they found incendiary objects at the scene, just like in the fire that had occurred some 24 hours earlier at the same location.
It is therefore the investigators of the SPVM arson squad who will lead this new investigation, one of the very many of its kind to have been undertaken recently in Montreal.
Police have been told that several suspects were seen fleeing the moments the fire was started.
Shortly after daybreak, no arrests were announced by the police.
