Saint-Lambert | Man seriously injured in armed assault

(Longueuil) An altercation that degenerated into an armed assault late Monday evening in Saint-Lambert, in Montérégie, led a young man to the hospital where the medical staff feared for his life.

The Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with this case. He was soon after questioned at the police station.

The dispute, which allegedly involved three people, occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Simard Boulevard. The 20-year-old victim was then stabbed with a knife.

Police say another 27-year-old man has also been arrested and may face drug trafficking charges. As for the young man suspected of having stabbed his victim, he risks being accused of assault with a weapon, according to the SPAL.
