The alleged perpetrator of the stabbing that occurred in a motel in Saint-Hubert, on the South Shore of Montreal, on Friday evening, had already been charged several times in the past year, including assault with a weapon, assault and criminal harassment.
According to our information, it is Ronald Lamothe, 52 years old. The man was arrested shortly after allegedly stabbing an individual he knew on Friday night.
Ronald Lamothe has a long criminal record and has been accused dozens of times of various crimes since 1989.
In the past year alone, he has been charged five times with assault with a weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault and criminal harassment twice.
Note that he was acquitted of all these most recent charges, the last of which date back to last summer.
The victim dies
Friday, Ronald Lamothe allegedly attacked a man who ultimately died of his injuries in hospital. The latter was also known to the police community.
Remember that the sad event occurred around 9:10 p.m. in the room of a motel on Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Boulevard, in Saint-Hubert.
Ronald Lamothe is scheduled to appear Saturday afternoon and could face a murder charge.
The Longueuil agglomeration police department specifies that its investigators are still trying to determine the causes of the event and will meet a witness soon.
