Officers from the Service de police de Laval (SPL) were called around 11:20 p.m., after receiving several calls concerning detonations on rue du Canada in the Saint-François sector.

On the spot, they locate a man wounded by bullet while he was in his Jeep Cherokee. He died on the spot despite several attempts at resuscitation.

According to our information, the victim is Stéphane Risler Achille, a 31-year-old man. He was sitting alone in his vehicle and was allegedly targeted by at least a dozen bullets, our sources report.

The alleged shooter(s) were in a car and were driving near the victim, before fleeing. There are no arrests in this case at this time.

The dog handler and forensic identification are currently in the direction of the scene. Witnesses to the murder have already met with investigators, said agent Stéphanie Beshara, spokesperson for the SPL.

Stéphane Risler Achille, a resident of Saint-François, had little criminal record. He pleaded guilty in 2015 to drug possession charges.

According to several police reports, the authorities consider the victim to be a narcotics seller and a pimp. The deceased was not part of a criminal organization, but had already been seen in the presence of members of a street gang in the area.
