Saint-Etienne innovates in frustration. In Valenciennes, ASSE conceded an infuriating draw (2-2), Saturday August 27. Success was however promised to the Stéphanois, but a penalty whistled in stoppage time put VA back in the game. A week after a beating humiliating against Le Havre (0-6 to eight against eleven), Saint-Etienne has partly recovered. But the disappointment inherent in the scenario remains great.
Before this fateful 92nd minute, the Greens thought they had erased their ills. The early goal of the Northerners had been compensated by an equalizer from Yvann Maçon, then by a masterpiece from Jean-Philippe Krasso. Even if the adversity offered by VA was not the fiercest, the new system tested by Laurent Batlles (5-3-2) and the promising incorporation of recruits like Bouchouari offered a good base. But this draw leaves Saint-Etienne at the back of the pack, 20th, with 0 points.
For their part, the Girondins de Bordeaux experienced a first setback this season. Faced with Guingamp (0-1), the Marines and Whites gave in from the start and were never able to overcome this handicap. Realistic in this closed match, the Costarmoricans are third in Ligue 2. Caen (1-1 at Paris FC) and Dijon (2-1 winner at Metz) are ahead of them.
Without a solution and after a meeting marked by numerous cards, the Girondins lost their first match of the season.
