Saint-Alban in the county of Portneuf: 200 pigs die in a violent fire

A food factory in Saint-Alban, in the administrative region of the Capitale-Nationale, lost more than 200 pigs on Saturday morning in a violent fire.

The blaze broke out around 6:15 am, in one of the four pig pens in the warehouse located at 399 rang de la Rivière-Noire.

The risk of spreading to the other three warehouses was significant, but the blaze was brought under control in time.

Nearly 60 firefighters took part in the response.

The charred warehouse is a total loss, and the damage amounts to more than a million dollars, estimated Richard Thibault, director of the Fire Department of Saint-Marc-des-Carrières.
