Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean | Truck driver dies in collision

(Saint-Félicien) A heavy goods vehicle driver lost his life in a collision that occurred Wednesday in Saint-Félicien, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.


The police were called around 4:15 p.m. regarding a collision that occurred on Route 169, between a vehicle and a heavy truck which were traveling in the same direction, indicated Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

“The heavy truck would have struck the vehicle from the rear after the driver of this vehicle carried out a maneuver which remains to be determined,” added the spokesperson, specifying that the two vehicles ended up in a ditch.

The driver of the vehicle and the three passengers suffered minor injuries. The driver of the truck was in critical condition when he was transported to the hospital, and he was pronounced dead a few hours later.

Route 169 was closed until approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening to allow police to analyze the scene.
