Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean | A snowmobiler loses his life in a swerve

(Hébertville-Station) A man lost his life Saturday in a snowmobile accident in Hébertville-Station, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

The snowmobiler, who was alone on his machine, swerved shortly before 4 a.m. on trail 383.

“According to preliminary information, the man was thrown from his snowmobile in a curve, before hitting a tree,” explained Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The man was accompanied by at least one other snowmobiler during the tragedy.

“He was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital, in critical condition, where unfortunately he was pronounced dead,” said the SQ spokesperson.

The victim is a man in his thirties from Alma. His identity was not immediately revealed.

“Everything suggests that speed could have played a role in this collision,” said Sergeant Tremblay.

A patrol officer specializing in collision investigation was requested to the scene.

The SQ investigation continues.
