The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences made the announcement on its Twitter page.

In June, the Academy offered her its apologies for the way she had been treated during that historic evening in 1973. She was also at the Academy Museum on September 17 for an official presentation.

Recall that during the Oscars, she had only 60 seconds to read the speech she had prepared on the rights of First Nations before being escorted to the exit under the boos of the public.

At the time, Raquel Welch, Clint Eastwood and Michael Caine were among those who criticized his gesture.

A documentary inspired by his life and titled Sacheen Breaking the Silence came out in 2021.
