Sabers acquire Eric Robinson

(Buffalo) The Buffalo Sabers made a minor trade on Wednesday to try to revive their squad, acquiring fourth-line forward Eric Robinson from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In return, the Blue Jackets received a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft.

Robinson, in his seventh professional season, has still not managed to carve out a permanent place in the NHL. The forward has one goal in seven games with the Blue Jackets this season, following a career-high 12 goals the previous season.

The Sabers have lost their last four games and have only won two games in a row once this season. Robinson could play important minutes for his new team, including on the penalty kill, while Zemgus Girgensons is injured in his lower body and is expected to miss another week of play.

Robinson scored 38 goals and 82 points in 266 games with the Blue Jackets.

The Sabers also traded forward Brandon Biro to their Rochester affiliate.
