A night of terror. Eight civilians were killed and nearly 80 others were injured on Tuesday, January 23, during nighttime Russian air strikes targeting the cities of kyiv and Kharkiv in particular. An initial report showed four dead and around sixty injured. Moscow denies having hit civilians, claiming, as always for two years, to only strike military objectives.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, Valery Zaluzhny, Russia targeted Ukraine with 41 missiles, of which 21 were shot down. kyiv is urgently demanding more anti-aircraft defense resources from its Western allies, and has set itself the goal of regaining control of the skies above its territory by 2024. The country also increased its own missile and drone attacks on Russian territory this winter, targeting in particular the city of Belgorod.
