Russian strikes left three dead and nine injured on Thursday, December 28, in two villages in the Zaporizhia region, in southern Ukraine, according to local authorities. Two fishermen died in the shelling of the village of Bilenke, the Attorney General’s Office announced on Telegram. Five civilians were also “injured to varying degrees of severity”, he added.

This locality, about thirty kilometers south of Zaporizhia, is located on the banks of the Dnieper, whose waters serve as a natural front line separating the Russian and Ukrainian armies. Another attack, against the village of Orikhiv, left one resident dead and four injured, authorities said.

Russian forces also carried out several strikes in the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine, according to regional police. A sixty-year-old woman died from her injuries after a bombing in Vovtchansk, very close to the Russian border, according to the same source. Three women aged 58 to 76 were also injured in an air attack on the village of Glushkivka, law enforcement said.
