A Russian strike on a DIY hypermarket in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, left 14 dead, according to a report published late Sunday morning, May 26, by the regional governor, Oleg Synegoubov. The latter claimed, following the strike which took place on Saturday, that at least six people had been killed, that around forty other people had been injured and that 16 were missing. According to firefighters, the fire, which was contained, burned 10,000 square meters.
According to Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, “biological samples were taken from 10 citizens and their relatives who have already contacted the police. Three of the victims have been identified. The identification of the (other) bodies is in progress”. He also clarified that he had “it took more than 16 hours to put out the fire in the hypermarket (…) caused by targeted Russian strikes.”
