The images, which date from the beginning of the conflict, come from the video surveillance of a car dealership. They have been authenticated by CNN.

Caution, these images may disturb. In a video revealed Thursday, May 12 by CNN (in English), two Russian soldiers shoot two unarmed Ukrainian civilians in the back at a car dealership on the road to kyiv. The scene was filmed by CCTV cameras on March 16, at the start of the war, as the Russian army tried to advance towards the Ukrainian capital, a goal since abandoned.

The two men, identified as the owner and caretaker of this concession, are dead. The American channel has collected the testimony of the latter’s daughter, who is calling for a trial for the perpetrators of what appears to be a war crime. “I can’t watch [la vidéo]. I will save it and leave it for my children and grandchildren to remember who our neighbors are.”comments Yulia Plyats.

The revelations come as Ukraine announced it would try Russia’s first war crime against a soldier 21-year-old accused of having killed an unarmed civilian with a Kalashnikov, without the date of the trial being revealed. At the UN, during a extraordinary session of the Human Rights Council, the country attacked by Russia on February 24 recalled “the endless list” abuses committed by Russian troops.
