Russian media banned in Europe?

If it is on the air for a few more hours, the RT channel will stop broadcasting on Wednesday March 2. This is a decision taken by the European Union. This is part of the economic sanctions, but not only: the EU insists on “Toxic and harmful disinformation in media Europe”. On the air, the channel evokes tensions since the beginning of the war and explains that some of its journalists have been “threat” and even “placed under protection”.

Threatened with death on social networks, a journalist wishing to remain anonymous confides his concern. “It’s anxiety, it’s terrifying. How to live it? It’s difficult for us, it’s difficult for our loved ones”, he testifies. He claims not to make pro-Putin propaganda. If he admits that it is possible to challenge the editorial line of RT France, “On the other hand, threatening a media outlet with closure for political reasons is totally unprecedented and I think we have reached a stage, indeed, of censorship”. The openly pro-Russian online media, Sputnik, is in Europe’s sights. Retaliatory measures against the European media are expected from the Kremlin. The war is also waged in the field of information. In Russia, two independent media have been banned.
