Energy sites caught fire in the Russian region of Smolensk, 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian borders, after new drone attacks carried out by kyiv, said the regional governor, Vassili Anokhine, on Wednesday April 24. “After the enemy attack on civilian energy infrastructure sites, fires broke out”, he reported on Telegram, without further details on the sites affected. The attack did not cause any casualties, he added. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry dispatched rescue workers to the scene.

Another drone attack on Wednesday targeted the special economic zone in the city of Lipetsk, also located 400 kilometers from Ukraine, but further south. This area is home to metallurgical and pharmaceutical companies. The governor of this region, Igor Artamonov, did not report any casualties. He assured on Telegram that residential areas were not threatened. In recent months, the Ukrainian army has increased operations carried out using these devices on Russian territory, in particular targeting energy sites.
