On Friday May 10, Russia launched an incursion towards Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city. Several drone strikes caused casualties during the night.
Early this Friday, May 10, there were homes ravaged by flames, near Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, in the northeast of the country. During the night, drone strikes targeted the city, a neighborhood was completely devastated. Firefighters attempted to put out the fires to prevent the flames from spreading and to shelter civilians.
Preventing strikes in Belgorod
Those who remained were devastated. “For five to ten minutes, my door fell, then the window. There was a terrible explosion, I fled”, said a resident. At the same time, in the morning, the Russian army launched an offensive with large numbers of armored vehicles in the region. All residents were called to evacuate. Volodymyr Zelensky announced that fighting continued in Kharkiv. Since that night, two civilians have been killed according to the authorities, and several others have been injured. This Russian operation would aim to create a buffer zone to prevent Ukraine from striking the Russian region of Belgorod.
