Russian forces shot down 36 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and the Crimean Peninsula on the night of Saturday October 28 to Sunday October 29, the Russian Defense Ministry announced. “An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using aerial-type drones on the territory of the Russian Federation has been stopped”, the ministry said on Telegram. Ukrainian authorities did not immediately react.

Ukrainian assaults against Russian territory have increased in recent months, as part of the slow counter-offensive started by kyiv at the beginning of June. Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, is regularly targeted because it is the rear base of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and a key supply route for Russian forces occupying southern and eastern Ukraine. .

The fighting between the two armies is also still raging in Adviivka, in the Donest oblast. According to information from British military intelligence, relayed by the Guardian, Russian forces have mobilized up to eight brigades there and may have recorded their heaviest losses since the start of 2023.
