Russia claimed, Friday February 9, to have neutralized 19 Ukrainian drones overnight in four different regions and above the Black Sea. “Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed drones in the Kursk (2), Bryansk (5), Oryol (4), Krasnodar (2) regions and over the Black Sea (6)”specified the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In the Oryol region (around 300 km southwest of Moscow), the attack targeted energy infrastructure sites, without causing any casualties, regional governor Andrei Klychkov wrote on Telegram. In the Krasnodar region (south), a fire broke out overnight at the Ilsky oil refinery, according to a statement from the local emergency services, which however did not make a link between this incident and the attack of drones.

Since the start of the offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, Russian territory has been regularly targeted by strikes and drone attacks attributed to kyiv. In this context, the Russian army announced on Friday that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited a command post of the Russian forces involved in the operation in Ukraine with an inspection.
