Russia recognizes independence of Kherson and Zaporizhia regions

It is a prelude to the annexation of Ukrainian regions occupied by Russian forces. Vladimir Putin has signed a decree recognizing the independence of the regions of Kherson and Zaporijjia (Ukraine). The Russian president had already recognized the independence of two other regions: that of Donetsk and Lugansk, just before he launched his major offensive in February. At the beginning of the afternoon, Friday September 30, the Russian president will formalize the annexation of these four regions of southern and eastern Ukraine.
