In Germany, the fourth wave is wreaking havoc. The number of infected continues to increase. After Saxony, health passes or negative PCR tests become compulsory in bars and restaurants in Bavaria. Hospitals are overwhelmed. “If we had vaccinated more by boosting with third doses, we would not have to take drastic measures”, reports Axel Fischer, head of the Munich hospital group. With 67% vaccinated, the country is preparing new measures and companies may soon require a daily test, cure or vaccination to be able to work.
Meanwhile, Russia deplores a new death record. After eleven days of confinement, Moscow has just reopened stores and the epidemic continues to flare up. Over 1,200 deaths and 40,000 new cases in less than 24 hours. But part of the population remains reluctant to vaccination. England makes vaccination compulsory for healthcare workers. 90% of British medical staff have already taken the plunge, but 100,000 caregivers remain to be convinced by next April. “We must help the nursing staff to make a positive choice”, testifies Sajid Javid, British Minister for Health.
