“France has no ‘mercenaries’, neither in Ukraine nor elsewhere, unlike others.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced a “new Russian crude manipulation”Thursday January 18, after Moscow claimed to have destroyed a building in which were deployed “French mercenaries” in Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine. “We must not give it more importance than the previous ones and the following ones which are sure to arrive”added the Quai d’Orsay.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that, “on the evening of January 16, the Russian armed forces [avaient] carried out a precision strike on a temporary deployment point of foreign fighters in Kharkiv, the core of which consisted of French mercenaries”. The shooting left more than 60 dead and 20 injured, according to this source on Telegram.
For its part, Ukraine reported a Russian strike using two S-300 missiles on Kharkiv, reporting, on Telegram, at least 17 injured, including two women in serious condition.
