The Russian army is gaining ground on Ukrainian territory, particularly in the east of the country. Units of the Russian army have “liberated the locality of Chigari in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday, July 7. On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his prerequisite for any country-to-country agreement: that is, Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, which Russia has been claiming to annex since September 2022.
