Moscow is aiming further. The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, affirmed on Wednesday July 20 that Russia’s military objectives in Ukraine were no longer limited solely to the east of the country, but also concerned “a series of other territories”.
“It is no longer just the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk [les territoires séparatistes du Donbass]these are also the regions of Kherson and Zaporizhia [dans le sud du pays] and a series of other territories, and this process continues, in a constant and persistent way”he said in an interview with the Ria Novosti news agency (in Russian) and the RT channel.
The Russian Foreign Minister clarified that this “change of geography” was linked to the delivery of long-range weapons to Ukraine, suggesting that Russian targets could expand if Western aid increased.
