“A fire broke out at the Transneft Briansk-Druzhba fuel depot in Briansk”, a town located 150 km from the border with Ukraine and serving as a logistics base for Moscow’s military offensive in this country, indicated the Ministry of Emergency Situations quoted by Russian news agencies.

“According to initial information, there is no victim,” he added. The reasons for this fire were not specified.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. local time in the Fokinsky district of the city of Bryansk, the local branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said, adding that rescuers and firefighters had been dispatched to the scene.

Footage released by Russian media showed a blaze lighting up red at night in Bryansk, as thick smoke billowed skyward.

The Interfax news agency reported that a second fuel depot was on fire in the same area, but this information could not immediately be confirmed.

Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of having carried out strikes on Russian soil, in particular on a village in the Briansk region in mid-April.

In early April, the governor of the Belgorod region, also on the border, claimed that Ukrainian helicopters had fired on a fuel depot.
