The “Groupe SOS” association launched the “1,000 cafes” operation four years ago, in order to bring cafes back to the countryside. Present on the 19/20 set, Thursday June 15, journalist Julien Cholin takes stock. “These are not 1 000 mas 200 cafes that have been supported by the association. Groupe SOS specifies that 1,000 coffees was more of a slogan than an objective. The association nevertheless recognizes that the task turned out to be a bit complicated, even if the results in the villages that have benefited from it are positive”reports the journalist.
“We need to find motivated managers”
But there are also obstacles to the installation of cafes. “Already he managers must be found who are motivated to live in villages that are sometimes isolated, and at the same time competent. (…) And above all, you have to find premises to occupy, with standards to respect as soon as you cook or sell alcohol”continues the journalist. Finally, it is necessary that the inhabitants push the door. “Relocating businesses to the countryside takes time to become part of your territory”concludes Julien Choline.
