The Argentine justice system will decide on Tuesday, September 3, whether Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, the two rugby players accused of aggravated rape, can return to France.
A decisive hearing is to be held in Mendoza (Argentina) on Tuesday, September 3. The provincial justice system could authorize Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, the two rugby players accused of rape, to return to France. This return to the country would be subject to rules, such as the obligation to report to the Argentine consulate if summoned, or even to go to Mendoza if requested.
“We must be patient, the decision now lies with the courts,” says Me German Hnatow, lawyer for Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou. The two players remain charged with aggravated gang rape. The events allegedly occurred on the night of July 6 to 7, in a hotel in Mendoza where the French XV had just won a test match against Argentina. The complainant is still hospitalized after a suicide attempt. On Monday, September 2, the public prosecutor dismissed the request made by her lawyers to disqualify the prosecutors in charge of the investigation.
