The player was tried for hitting his wife, Friday, May 26, in broad daylight and in front of multiple witnesses and CCTV cameras, in a shopping center in Montpellier. Today aged 29, married and father of two children, the player from the Montpellier club, reigning French champion, has been in pre-trial detention since Sunday May 28.

Mohamed Haouas was already tried 15 days ago before the Montpellier court for a case of violence in a meeting against a nightclub manager in 2014. He then declared that he wanted to “move on to something else”. He was also sentenced in February 2022 to an 18-month suspended prison sentence for burglaries, still in 2014.
