In Mendoza, at the foot of the Andes mountain range in Argentina, the case of the French rugby players has become a legal soap opera followed by cameras all over the country. Soledad, the 39-year-old plaintiff who accuses two players of raping her, agreed to speak to “Envoyé spécial”. Very combative, she recounts her descent into hell and returns to that nightmarish night.
For their part, the rugby players claim to be innocent and the Argentinian justice system has authorized them to return to France after 57 days of house arrest. However, they are still accused of aggravated gang rape and are waiting for the courts to declare them innocent.
In France, the magazine was able to visit one of the players’ two clubs, Stade Rochelais, where Oscar Jegou is still under contract. Is there a malaise in French rugby on issues related to alcoholism or cocaine?
