Roxham Road: the SQ must form an “enclave” to block the way to migrants, according to the PQ

The sovereignist leader affirms that Quebec is authorized to block the passage of the thousands of people who cross the border at Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, in Montérégie.

“Roxham Road is a road, so at some point it becomes provincial jurisdiction,” he said Tuesday. (The SQ) has jurisdiction to close it, block it”.

He takes as proof of this the road closures between Quebec and New Brunswick during the pandemic, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 between the two provinces.

However, PSPP was unable to specify according to which law or on what grounds provincial police sleuths could cut off access to migrants from Quebec.

“On the legal level, are we in a law, a decree? What I am saying is that the Government of Quebec has jurisdiction over the roads. The Roxham Road file has been dragging on for six years, intentionally on the part of the federal government, so the Government of Quebec will have to set a deadline, put pressure by taking action within its jurisdiction. , added the leader of the Parti Québécois.
