Roxanne Sayegh at the direction of the Cinéma Beaubien, the Museum and the Park

The co-founder of Cinéma Moderne and instigator of the Cinéma Public project Roxanne Sayegh has been appointed general manager of Cinéma Beaubien, the Museum and the Park. She will take over from Mario Fortin, who announced his retirement in December.

Roxanne Sayegh will take office on September 6. “I am honored by this appointment,” she said in a statement. It is a sizeable mandate to succeed Mario Fortin. I will be happy to continue to offer the public the best of the art house cinema that has made the reputation of the Cinémas Beaubien, du Parc and du Musée. The success of neighborhood cinemas has proven itself here and everywhere else and the magic of the big screen is undeniable! »

Mario Fortin has held the role of general manager since its founding, in which he participated, in 2001. After nearly 50 years in the film industry, he will be retiring on December 18.

Roxanne Sayegh has been working in the industry for more than 20 years. In 2018, she co-founded the Cinéma Moderne (a small venue with a café-bar presenting repertoire films) with Alexandre Domingue. Last year, alongside Aude Renaud-Lorrain, she launched the Cinéma Public (screening venues in the heart of Villeray and online broadcaster). The entrepreneur also led the International Documentary Meetings of Montreal in the early 2010s, was executive producer at the Ambulante documentary festival and was distribution director at Tarantula Films in Mexico City.

She won the Young Entrepreneur of Quebec: Arts and Culture award at the ARISTA competition of the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal in 2019.
