Former Liberal Party of Canada candidate Claude Thibault is doing an about-face and will ultimately not represent the CAQ in the riding of Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue in the next provincial election “for personal reasons”.

In a brief press release published on Friday, the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) announced that Claude Thibault was withdrawing his candidacy to represent the colors of the party in the next provincial elections, two days after announcing it.
Claude Thibault said his decision was based on “personal reasons”. The CAQ warned that it would not grant any interview on this subject.
Prime Minister François Legault had formalized the candidacy of Mme Thibualt in Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue on July 27.
Mme Thibault had already tried his luck for the Liberal Party of Canada in the riding twice, in 2015 and 2019, according to the newspaper. The citizen.
For her, the transition from PLC to CAQ made sense. “Just look how they [les caquistes] solved the pandemic and just look that despite the pandemic, they managed to solve so many issues in four years, it’s impressive. That’s why I want to join this team,” said M.me Thibault in an interview with Radio-Canada on Wednesday.
The former candidate still works at the Center local de développement (CLD) in Rouyn-Noranda.
