A 39-year-old man arrested the day before in Rouyn-Noranda, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, appeared at the courthouse on Wednesday to answer charges of sexual assault and sexual contact with a minor.
The acts alleged against David Hamel were allegedly committed during the period between September 1, 2022 and February 24 of the current year.
The suspect remains detained, pending further proceedings, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), whose investigators are still scrutinizing the file of the accused.
