Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie | Septuagenarian found dead in apartment

A 71-year-old man was found dead in suspicious circumstances in a dwelling in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie in Montreal on Friday evening.

Emergency services were contacted around 9 p.m. Friday evening for a man found unresponsive in a dwelling on 4e avenue, between Dandurand and Masson streets, in Montreal.

At the scene, the police pronounced him dead. The causes that led to the death of the septuagenarian are unknown, explained on the spot Jeanne Drouin, media relations officer for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). However, traces of violence were observed on the body.

A Major Crimes Division investigation has been opened. A security perimeter has been erected in the area. Saturday morning, the forensic identification service is on site, under a spring rain.

If the death of this man is considered suspicious, nothing confirms for the moment that it would be a criminal event, specifies Mme Drouin.
