The accident, because it would be an accident according to investigators from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), occurred around 6 p.m. in an apartment on rue Chambord, near rue Saint -Zotique, in Montreal. It is a residential street mostly lined with duplex-style buildings.

The 9-1-1 call was made to a 7-year-old boy found unconscious in his bathwater. “Did he feel unwell? Did he fall asleep? asks agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, public relations officer for the SPVM. Further medical analyzes will be necessary to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

On the scene, the first responders performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers on the child from the home to the hospital. The boy was in critical condition.

Both of his parents were also hospitalized for nervous shock. At the time these lines were written, the child was still hospitalized. “The next few hours will be decisive,” said Mr. Brabant.

SPVM investigators were dispatched to the scene to assess whether the event was suspicious. “To date, on our side, there is no criminal element,” says Mr. Brabant. It seems purely accidental. »

The SPVM acted in support of Urgences-santé in this matter.
