(Montreal) A pedestrian was hit by a motorist on Saturday afternoon in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, in Montreal.
The accident occurred around 3:35 p.m. The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) received several calls concerning a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle near Pie-IX and Rosemont boulevards.
A man in his twenties was allegedly hit by a motorist traveling northbound on Pie-IX Boulevard as he crossed the intersection on foot, said SPVM spokesperson Mariane Allaine Morin.
He was injured in the upper body and taken to hospital. He has serious injuries, but is in stable condition. His life would not be in danger.
The driver and his passenger were not injured, but they were treated for nervous shock.

A woman in her thirties was fatally hit by a heavy vehicle on Monday morning in the L’Île-des-Sœurs district of Montreal. The next day, two pedestrians died in two separate collisions in Laval.
Since the beginning of the year, 17 pedestrians have lost their lives in a collision in Montreal, according to a report from the SPVM. At this time last year, 11 pedestrians had been fatally caught in the metropolis.
However, the number of fatal collisions involving at least one vehicle is essentially the same, i.e. 26 in 2021 and 25 in 2022.
According to Mme Cabana-Degani, we must accelerate the implementation of proven actions to better protect pedestrians. This concerns the layout of streets and sidewalks, authorized speeds and the design of vehicles.
“Behind the statistics, there are human tragedies. It doesn’t make sense to let it go, ”she regrets.
