Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie | A man in crisis shoots at the police

A 48-year-old man in crisis reportedly fired at police on Sunday morning in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. There were no injuries.

Around 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, the police received a call for a man in crisis in a single-family home on rue Saint-Zotique, near 25e av.

When the police arrived, the man allegedly fired at them. The peace officers immediately managed to bring him under control, said officer Véronique Dubuc of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

A 75-year-old woman, a family member, was inside the house during the event.

The suspect, who has a criminal record for various offences, was transported to a detention center and will be interviewed by investigators.

A perimeter is erected to protect the crime scene and investigators from the Major Crimes Section are on their way. Rue Saint-Zotique is closed between 25e and the 26e av.
