Rose Sandwicheria: an old garage lined with roses

Two months ago, the Rose sandwich shop opened a stone’s throw from Jarry Park, in a former garage on rue Gounod. From the garage there is only the sliding door, which will open wide when the weather permits.

The old empty space is now filled with a counter overflowing with pastries and sandwiches, surrounded by roses that line the walls and even the ceiling.

Rose is for the flower of the same name and for the color, but above all as a tribute to two very important women in the life of the owners.

“It’s my mother’s name, and also that of my partner’s grandmother,” explains Anthony Le Para, co-founder of the café with Marcus Ford.

Beyond its decor conducive to Instagram photos, the Rose offers an Italian-style menu, courtesy of chef Sarah Maude Huard.

One of the classics is the mortadella sandwich on house focaccia, with fresh lemon ricotta and pistachio butter. You can even invite color to your plate by opting for the Caesar… pink salad, the most popular on the menu.

Since the first idea was to open a creamery, there will of course be gelato when the temperature is warmer. While waiting for good weather, we can fall back on other comforting offers: coffees, cookies, pastries, brownies, cannolis… and the list will only grow longer with time, we are promised.
