On the shores of the Black Sea, the threat of Russian ships has been present since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Russia blocks grain exports so the port of Constantain Romania, is trying to take over.

In a freighter, at the Romanian port of Constantaa treasure : thousands of tons of corn. Last year, Ukraine accounted for 30% of the world’s resource. This year, exports have just picked up. Constanta is the most modern port of the Sea black but it was supposed to be used only for Romanian agriculture. Now, more needs to be done to accommodate Ukrainian cereals. At the current rate, they will need to send us three years to send us all the stocks they already have.”, believes Dan Dolghindirector of grain operations.

Ukraine is deprived of its major ports: Mariupoltaken by the Russians, and Odessaregularly bombarded. Romania, located to the south, is therefore the main possible route for exports, but it is not a simple journey. Problem for the transport of cereals: the gauge of the rails between Romania and Ukraine being different, once the border has been crossed, you have to change trains and transfer everything.
