(Paris) Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino qualified for the main draw of the French Open thanks to her victory in two sets of 6-2 and 6-0 against Australian Seone Mendez.

Marino has a date with American Coco Gauff, 18and seeded in the first round when she will be in the main draw of this major tournament on clay for the first time since 2011.
She made it to the third round that year before losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Marino suffered qualifying elimination at Roland-Garros in 2019 and 2021.
She joins Lavalloise Leylah Annie Fernandez, 17and top seed, and Ontario’s Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 U.S. Open champion, in the women’s draw.
Among the men, Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime, 9and No. 14 Denis Shapovalov of Ontario are also in the game.
