In front of the qualified Juan Pablo Varillas, the Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime got off to a bad start in his French Open on Sunday in Paris. After losing the first two sets, however, he recovered to win 2-6, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3.

The Quebecer took advantage of his second match point to win. He took advantage of the fatigue and sores of his opponent, who requested a medical break to treat blisters on his fingers.
‘FAA’ had never won a game in five innings after dropping the first two before. It is also his very first victory in the main draw at Roland-Garros.
Find your bearings
While he once again demonstrated his power with 13 aces, Auger-Aliassime struggled with his second serve, winning only 40% of rallies when needed. He gave nine break points to his vis-à-vis, who took advantage of four of them in the first two sets.
The ninth racket in the world, however, found his bearings for the last three sets, being uncompromising when he had the balls in hand. Varillas (122nd) was therefore unable to give himself a single break point, helplessly assisting his opponent’s comeback.
The winner will now face whoever emerges victorious in a duel between Camilo Ugo Carabelli (154and) and Aslan Karatsev (39and). Until then, he will have to rest since he has just fought a 3 h 14 min battle.
