(Vancouver) Loretta Rogers, the matriarch of the Rogers family and member of the board of directors of the giant Rogers Communications for several years, died at the age of 83.

His daughter Martha Rogers confirmed his death on Twitter on Saturday. She said of her mother that she “was a beautiful soul [qui] had incredible strength of character.
Loretta Rogers was the widow of the company’s founder, Ted Rogers, who died in 2008. She served as a director on the board.
She recently found herself at the center of a power struggle over control of the business involving several family members. His son Edward had raised his ire when he tried to fire the CEO.
Mme Rogers and two of his daughters who also sit on the board opposed the move, saying it violated corporate governance rules.
Edward Rogers went ahead when a British Columbia court ruled in his favor.
