Editions la courte scale have announced the death of Roger Paré, a pioneer of children’s literature in Quebec.

Born in Abitibi, the great author and illustrator died on March 31 at the age of 92.
Roger Paré began his career at Radio-Canada in the late 1950s. He illustrated the credits for important youth programs, including The surprise box, Bobino and A window in my head.
In 1979, Roger Paré adapted in youth format A window in my head by Raymond Plante, which earned him the prestigious Canada Council for the Arts Children’s Literature Prize. He won it a second time in 1985 for the title The alphabet, sold 500,000 copies.
Since 1984, Roger Paré has devoted himself entirely to children’s literature. His books have been translated into a dozen languages. His most recent, Little joys of reading, was published last February by Soulières publisher. In May 2021, he had published on a short scale an accordion book for toddlers, Look for the cat.
