Elvis Presley, son of a farm worker, grew up in Mississippi being fascinated by the gospel. He mixes it with rhythm and blues and country to invent a new kind of music. “He sings black music, like a black”, explains Belkacem Bahlouli, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Rolling Stones”. Elvis Presley lived simply and was generous. At the end of his life, he lived reclusive and depressed, crushed by glory. His death at the age of 42 propelled him to the status of a timeless legend.
