Rock and Roll Hall of Fame | George Michael, Cyndi Lauper and Willie Nelson among the nominees

(New York) Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Kate Bush, Iron Maiden, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Sheryl Crow and the late George Michael are up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.

Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners, A Tribe Called Quest, The White Stripes, Warren Zevon and Joy Division/New Order complete the list of 14 candidates.

Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago to be eligible.

This is a first nomination for Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Cyndi Lauper, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, The White Stripes, Warren Zevon and Joy Division/New Order.

A Tribe Called Quest and Kate Bush were in the running last year. Bush’s comeback this year may be due to his song’s newfound popularity Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) thanks to the show Stranger Things.

The chosen ones will be announced in May and the induction ceremony will take place this fall. More than a thousand artists, historians and music industry professionals have the right to vote.

Music lovers can vote online or in person at the museum. The five artists who receive the most votes will receive the “audience vote” which will be added to the professional ballots.
